Once upon a time, South Jordan was mostly farm land, with little to do unless you wanted to visit Salt Lake City. Today, South Jordan has become a growing destination for residents and businesses, including IT and technology companies. This has led to a lot of growth in the area, and now there are plenty of things to see and do in town. If you’re not sure what’s on offer, or you’re new to the area, here are some of the things we love to do in town.
The Loveland Living Planet Aquarium is an exciting destination for kids and adults alike, particularly the undersea tunnel. It’s located in Draper, which is less than three miles away from the South Jordan city limits.
If you want to take in a movie, we would highly recommend The District Megaplex Theaters - they’re state of the art and offer some of the most comfortable seating you’ll find anywhere.
Looking for a few options to help the kids have a great time? We hear you. Our recommendations are Cowabunga Bay during the warmer months – it’s a major water park with everything from slides to pools – and Mulligan’s Golf and Games for those who might prefer putt-putt or arcade games.
If you want to learn more about the history of the area, you can start with the Gale Center of History and Culture. The exhibits change pretty regularly, so we recommend going back to see what is different. The Wheeler Historic Farm in nearby Salt Lake City is also worth a look, particularly if you have an interest in agriculture and farming.
If you’re interested in getting out and active, you can do that in a number of ways. The Glenmoor Golf Course is located right in town. You can also head out with Elusive Fly Fishing Outfitter for some of the best fly fishing in Utah. Orson Smith Park is great for a bit of outdoor enjoyment, too, although it is located in Draper (about three miles from town).
Finally, there are lots of options for shopping, dining, and indulging in some of the finer things in life. For example, you might decide to spend some type exploring the many options available at The Shops at South Town. You might also decide to head over to Gardener Village in West Jordan. The Outlaw Distillery in Midvale is also worth a stop if you enjoy craft liquor.
