What’s not to love about Salt Lake City? There’s always something to do in this thriving utopia, with its many annual events and festivals, its beautiful arts community, and so much more. Every year, Salt Lake City plays host to the Salt Lake Jazz Festival, the Pride Festival, the Utah Arts Festival, and so much more. You can enjoy live music, farmers’ markets, and Gallivan Events throughout the year, or just explore the parks and local sports that are always happening. Of course, who would want to miss Temple Square, particularly at dusk when the lights first come on and the entire square glows with beautiful light.
Salt Lake City also has a growing arts community that includes Ballet West, the Utah Symphony, the SLC Arts Council, the Pioneer Theater, the Utah Opera, and Gallery Strolls – all organizations that put on many shows, exhibits, and events for anyone to enjoy. If you’re looking for even more options for cultural enjoyment and entertainment, make sure you check out the Capitol Theatre and the Leonardo Museum. The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Museum and the Pioneer Memorial Museum are also well worth the visit.
However, that’s just the beginning. Visiting Salt Lake City means you must see the Hogle Zoo, the Tracy Aviary, the Natural History Museum of Utah, or the This is the Place Heritage Park. You can also check out several golf courses within the city, and of course, being in Utah, there are tons of ways to enjoy the great outdoors.
For example, you can head out to Big Cottonwood Canyon just outside of town and experience the pristine beauty that makes Utah so special. The Red Butte Garden is also well worth your time. If you’re in the mood to get a bird’s eye view of it all, there’s nowhere better for that than Ensign Peak Park, but Liberty Park is also great for strolling or jogging, or just spending time with the family.
Make sure you check out City Creek Canyon, as well as Memory Grove Park and Mill Creek Canyon, all of which are easily reached from the city center. Of course, let’s not forget the city’s namesake – the Great Salt Lake and the Great Salt Lake State Park are just a short drive away. Spend some time exploring it, or the surrounding salt flats.
Living in this gorgeous city is easy because there are many ways to get around, and plenty of opportunities for families to enjoy kid-friendly activities every weekend. It may be the place known for the "Greatest Snow on Earth”, but don’t think that Salt Lake City is only for winter. When the spring thaw hits, there is beautiful scenery and lots of fun all around.
