Layton, UT, enjoys one of the most central locations in the entire state, at least when it comes to accessing populated areas. While it is located north of Salt Lake City, residents here can still easily access all that SLC has to offer. For those who want a bit more outdoors time, there are tremendous opportunities for enjoyment. We have to admit that the area around Layton is simply stunning, and chockfull of things to do. One of those is the Adams Canyon Trail – visit during the warmer months for the chance to hike and enjoy the beauty of nature, or during winter for snow-related fun and enjoyment.
There’s also the Great Salt Lake Shorelands Preserve. Explore miles of walkways that meander through the Great Salt Lake’s environs. Engage in educational programming for kids and adults, or just soak up the beauty of this pristine natural area.
Want to get your wine on? Layton has its very own winery – the Hive Winery. This is a bit different from your run of the mill winery, though. They like to play with both fruit and honey, creating unique fusions like Blackberry Stinger, which is actually a hard blackberry apple cider, rather than a traditional grape wine. Of course, there’s plenty of regular vino on hand to satisfy your craving for a red, white, or rosé.
If you are looking for a way to have fun with the entire family, our recommendation is to head for Boondocks Food & Fun. From bowling to dining, there’s something on offer that will suit every member of the family. Get Air Kaysville and the Kaysville Theatre are also great options.
When it comes to shopping, there are tons of options in Layton and the surrounding area. The Layton Hills Mall is one of the largest in the state of Utah, and you’ll find a host of both anchor stores, as well as specialty boutiques. There are eateries here, too. Station Park is another option to help you get your shopping fix in, although you’ll need to drive a few miles over to Farmington to enjoy it.
